Come share in the La Casa experience – an unforgettable weekend near Tecate, Mexico!
This year SCG is sponsoring 2 trips with the first being April 18 – 20, 2008. La Casa provides you with an opportunity to permanently improve the lives of the people you will meet – and La Casa families gain the dignity and sense of accomplishment of having helped to provide their new home. Anyone can participate in this opportunity to demonstrate Jesus Christ’s matchless love to an entire community.
We invite you to participate in this exciting ministry of compassion and empowerment!
Who can participate:
A passport is now required for reentry into the United States. All trip participants must have a passport.
Men, women and children over 11. Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No experience necessary – all you need is a willing heart.
Schedule:
We will leave the church parking lot at
5:00 am (sharp) on Friday morning,
April 18. The team will return to the church by 1:00 pm on Sunday,
April 20. To participate in the trip, you must be available for the entire time.
Cost:
$225/person. This pays for all building materials, meals and lodging while in Mexico.
Transportation:
We will be arranging carpools as transportation to Mexico. If you have a truck or van, you may be asked to drive. Gas and car insurance are extra. This added cost is usually split between passengers.

Nowhere in the world is the disparity between wealth and poverty clearer than on the US-Mexican border. San Diego high-rises overlook Tijuana’s rapidly growing slums, where a family of five often earns only $75 a week.
About 3,000 immigrants arrive at the border area every day – usually with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Not many years ago, Tijuana was a town of 250,000. Today, over 2 million people inhabit the area – most in desperately poor shanty towns without water, electricity or sewer systems.

SCG works with the poorest of the poor to fulfill their hopes of decent, safe shelter for their children, and true peace in the person and work of Jesus Christ. We work through Baja Christian Ministries (BCM), an organization that partners with local evangelical churches to identify house recipients. Once a needy family is selected, they share in the responsibility of preparing their own lot and they work together with SCG volunteers to build their new home.
This tangible expression of love in the gift of a new home exemplifies the love of Christ which we share with the community during each house-building outreach. This is known as the
Fiesta de Vida, or Festival of Life. It’s a celebration of Christ’s love that includes music, evangelism, food, clothing distribution and one-on-one witnessing throughout the neighborhood. Many people make decisions to follow Christ during the La Casa weekend and BCM works with local church pastors to provide ongoing personal pastoral care for new believers.
This is the 17th year that SCG will be involved with the La Casa project. We hope you’ll come spend some time with us in April!
