Building Updates

July 2010

The sun is shining and it’s another beautiful day in Southern California! Many of you are enjoying your summer vacations, days at the beach and time with family and friends. However, things at SCG have been extremely busy.

Over the past month, there have been many new additions to the new auditorium. The roof is being mopped with tar. Seat risers are being installed to allow for the tiered seating in the back. Walls are being framed and almost complete. Staircases are complete. Drywall is being hung and more additions are to come.

The new auditorium is set to open this fall and we are trusting God for more people from the community to join us and hear about Jesus Christ. Please pray as the construction crew works on the last stretch of work before the opening. In addition, pray for opportunities to invite your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to experience God at SCG.

Finally, we appreciate your support with SCG in this campaign. For many of you, you have given and even sacrificed in order for someone to be able to hear about the life changing message of Jesus Christ. What an amazing day that will be when people walk through the Auditorium for the first time and join in the journey of following Jesus. To know that you had a part in that individual’s life will be amazing. Continue to pray as we are upon the completion of the building and ask God how He might continue to use you as love and care for his people.

June 2010

The official start to summer is just days away, but here at SeaCoast Grace we are way ahead of the curve. As we cruise into another perfect Orange County summer, we are so glad that you are journeying along with us. In looking at all that lies ahead for us at SCG, there is plenty to be excited about. For many the buzz began just a few short weeks ago as SCG’ers converged on the new Auditorium for a sneak peak at the construction and a look at all that God has done over the few months since construction began. Excitement grew to an all time high when the Auditorium walls were made available for hand written prayers to God.  What a powerful moment as the SCG community poured out their hearts on the cement walls in vibrant hope and grateful expectation for the futures of those who are not here yet.

There have been many new editions to the building in the last few weeks. The construction crews are diligently working to complete the new Auditorium by early fall. God has had his hand on the project the entire time and through God’s guidance and provision there have been many incredible improvements.  All of our walls both interior and exterior have been poured, attached and finished. The roof is nearing completion as crews install the insulation that will pave the way for the finishing of the various ceiling fixtures including the lighting and catwalk. Window frames have been installed. The north facing cross tower is nearing completion. And the bathroom plumbing has been finished and prepped, which has enabled crews to frame the bathroom walls as well as the lobby walls. Seriously, this new Auditorium is really coming together fast and that’s a good thing because we can hardly wait to open our doors so that more people in our communities, neighborhoods, schools and places of employment can come and hear about the life changing message of Jesus Christ.

We are grateful for your partnership with SCG and this campaign. Thank you for the giving of your time, your talents and your treasure. As we anxiously await the buildings completion, we would like to encourage you to boldly continue to walk in faith as you seek opportunities to love more, care more and give more.

May 2010

A few weeks ago, many of us enjoyed the wonderful surprise of actually taking an insider’s look at our new Auditorium after the weekend services. As a staff it was fun to interact with you and help you visualize what’s happening across the courtyard. Even since that time, much has happened, including the installation of the roof’s framing, the removal of the wall braces and the remaining concrete pour around the perimeter of the building.

We don’t know if these sorts of details get you fired up, but what it communicates to us is, not only are the walls secure, but the building is now self contained, so that construction can begin to happen inside the Auditorium. And that means we are moving even closer to completing the building and seeing the dream become a reality, thanks to the prayers and generous gifts of our SeaCoast community!

However, while you are seeing a building go up, there are some real exciting things happening behind the scenes, as our staff prepares for the fall and the opening of the building. As we anticipate growth, we are looking at how to effectively and creatively engage people in a process that helps them become all that God intended. It’s been a real fun process for the staff, as we collaborate together and dream. Trust when we say there are some cool things that you will hear more about in the coming months.

After all, the building isn’t the goal. It’s life transformation that we desire! The building is merely a tool that we believe God can use to help his mission be fulfilled in our region. With that, we are trusting God to help broken people find hope, marriages find healing and our cities be transformed. Finally, we will keep praying, believing and partnering with you, because that is what we believe we are called to do.

Doyle's Easter Update (April 2010)

March 2010

February 27, 2010

The construction workers began the process of raising our walls onto their foundation. It was an exciting day as our staff watched with excitement from the roof of the Administration Building and many others watched live on our WebCam. By the end of the day, most of the walls on the Cerritos Ave side of the building were in place. Over the next couple of days construction teams will begin pouring the remaining walls on the backside of the building and hopefully get those into place by the end of next week.

Tuesday February 2nd, 2010

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the progress of our new auditorium. Currently, our construction crew is pouring the foundation and then the walls go up! Please continue to pray for our construction crew and everyone involved. Again, God has proven to be faithful to us and for that we are excited and grateful.

Check out these photos of the construction crew pouring the foundation of our new auditorium!

We are making great progress on the new auditorium! All of the under-slab utilities have been run, all underground conduits have been set, the support footings for the foundation have been poured, the auditorium floor has been leveled and surveyed, and all of this has paved the way for the pouring of the concrete that will be the building's foundation which is scheduled to be completed this month. Construction crews have been diligently working very hard to insure that everything is in order and that no detail is left undone for every structure must have a solid and firm foundation if the structure is going to stand strong. Please continue to pray for the construction crew and SCG!

Construction is moving along at a great pace here at SCG! Before you know it, we will be meeting in the new auditorium! It’s amazing to think back to the beginning of this adventure in 2007 compared to now. God has been so faithful to us and we are so thankful. Keep praying for the construction crew and all those involved in building the new auditorium so together we can make a Greater Impact.

Also, excavating and grading begins today. Please keep the construction crew in your prayers as they build a new place where people can hear about Jesus Christ.

Monday September 28th, 2009

On September 26/27, Pastor Doyle held a ground breaking ceremony and special time of prayer after each service on what will soon be the foundation to our new auditorium. Thank you to all who attended. We ask that you continue to pray for our church and for the new people who haven’t attended yet. God is at work at SeaCoast Grace Church and we hope more and more people can become a part of it.

In addition, it’s official, we are in construction mode at SCG! Today workers have taken over the front parking lot making preparations for tearing up the lot very soon. More updates to come.

Tuesday September 22nd, 2009

The Moody Parking Lot is finally complete and open for use! Then starting on the weekend of September 26/27, the main entrance to the church off Cerritos Ave. will be closed as we begin construction on the new auditorium. Take this opportunity to try the new parking lot out and catch a ride on one of our shuttles. More exciting info to come!

Monday September 1st, 2009

Good news: The new western parking lot is nearing completion! The only items left to complete are the light poles, signage and landscaping. When completed cars can enter at the Moody traffic signal, park and walk or catch a shuttle to the auditoriums (existing and new). The next step, beginning in September, will be the construction of a new road behind the Ranch House. Then it will be time for demolition of the existing parking lot between the Ranch House and the church offices to allow for the construction of the new auditorium.

Monday August 3rd, 2009

Construction is well underway for our new parking lot on what used to be “meditation meadows” in between the Ranch House and Moody. We anticipate that the lot will be finished in 6 to 7 weeks, which at that time we can begin construction on the new auditorium. Stay tuned for video updates on the progress of the construction.

Tuesday July 7th, 2009

Plans are coming together to begin the construction of our new auditorium. We hope to start paving “Meditation Meadows”, the land to the right of the Ranch House, in the next few weeks. Please continue to keep this project in your prayers. In addition, if you would like to get involved or still have not made a pledge, email us at info@seacoastgrace.org for more information. Check back for more updates soon.
