Gertrude's Story
It started with a question. What would happen if the church on 10th and Electric was full of people, fully engaged with God, desirous of reaching the people of Seal Beach and the surrounding communities for Christ? Confident that God wanted to fill those seats, Pastor Doyle and his wife Connie, moved from Illinois, along with their children Cody and Chelsea to start SeaCoast Community Church. Without a lot of fanfare or support, SeaCoast held their first worship service on September 10, 1989. Twenty years later, SeaCoast Grace has continued to be a place where people can experience God and change.
Still committed to the original vision, the leadership of SeaCoast Grace made some Greater Impact decisions in 2008 to significantly invest into the community of Seal Beach by purchasing the building on 10th and Electric and by hiring a full time Campus Pastor in early 2009. By sticking a bigger stake in the ground and continuing to offer relevant messages, amazing worship and excellent ministries, we believe that many more people will find hope and healing in Christ through SeaCoast Grace.
It’s an exciting time in our churches history and there are still many more stories to be written. So we want to invite you to be part of the story by prayerfully considering how you can contribute to the mission, as together we trust God to transform many more lives for his kingdom.

In late 2008, we were informed that the organization that owned the building that we have been meeting in for the last 19+ years had decided to sell it. Losing the building would mean that SeaCoast would no longer have a presence or ministry location in Seal Beach, a town that we felt like God had called us to reach a long time ago. Still having a strong sense of that call, the church began negotiations to buy the building and in the end, we believe God gave us an incredible opportunity to buy the building and continue our impact Seal Beach.
While the leadership of the church agreed to buy the church, so that we can keep doing ministry, we need the people of Seal Beach to help and pay for it. So we’re asking our folks down there to make a commitment to help us pay for the church on so that we can keep doing ministry in Seal Beach. Together we are trusting God’s people to prayerfully consider partnering with us and supporting this step of faith by giving a onetime gift or by pledging to give over the next three years respond in order for us to reach our goal of $250,000 in order for us to continue operating this campus.
We understand the economic climate and the challenges that we are facing, but at some point we have to be obedient and trust God to help us. We need some people to step up and do some heavy lifting in this and I’m asking you to pray about being one of them. That original church was started in a fairly difficult time as well (1945), but the impact of it seems to justify their sacrifice. Only God fully knows how many lives have been changed because of those people so long ago, who during a difficult time in our nation, chose to obey God, take a risk and trust him with the outcomes. I believe God will give us similar kinds of results.
